Training over the last week or so ..

Filed under: Training — Dax++ @ 3:53 pm

.. has been none existant.

I’ve had the flu for the last 10 days or so and although the primary symptoms have cleared up there’s no way I’m back to normal service. No cycling (you’ve got to be kidding .. I reckon I’d end up in hospital if I tried anything like a decent 20 mile bike ride). No climbing either .. very frustrating.

Mind you, did go for a 6 mile walk through the Cotswolds on Saturday with my family and Steve (ol friend from London) .. even Abbey (4) walked most of it - though she fell asleep in the car on the way home and didn’t wake up until it was time to get ready and head off to Pizza Express in the early evening :-)

Blue bells, trout, ducks, swans, sheep, cows, rolling hills, kids, friends, lovely weather and a great picnic = very civilised way to spend a Saturday.

Get in!

Filed under: Rock Climbing — Dax++ @ 10:47 pm

.. just led a HVS 5a (Fetid Dingo’s Kidneys) down at Symonds Yat.

Found the route next to Snatch (HVS 4c) which Ward had just led, and I seconded, and I just liked the look of it. Blank looking but with a few breaks and pockety holds here and there. Wasn’t fazed by the climb at all .. no fear, just a puzzle to be unlocked .. actually really enjoyed it. Cool.

Notes
====

Left Poulton @ 4:10pm
Left Gloucester @ 4:50pm (Good time but the ring road was bad .. can be worse but still grim .. better to drive through Gloucester)
Arrived @ Symonds Yat @ 5:30pm (I’d forgotten how frustrating it is to drive in this part of the country)

Training over the last week

Filed under: Rock Climbing, Training — Dax++ @ 9:03 pm

Going really well.

Thursday @ the Warehouse: Led a vertical 6B+ with one rest. Led the easy (6A) route on the competion wall. Arm aching by the end of the evening but not too bad (cooled my arm with running cold water).

Tuesday @ The Link: Top roped a 6B+ (becuase there was no way to led it). Led a 6B+ (difficult bit at the top) but had to rest a few times - tired and also couldn’t figure out the last move. Arm fine.

Training over the last week or so ..

Filed under: Push Bikes, Rock Climbing, Training — Dax++ @ 12:22 pm

Cycling going well .. cycled over 120 miles last week.

Weight going well .. dropped a couple of pounds. Managed to go climbing yesterday under 13st :-)

Climbing going well .. climbed twice last week (right arm ached a bit), climbed down at Wintors Leap on Saturday (see my log book for details) and climbed at the Link last night. Right arm hardly ached at all .. even after top roping a 6B+ (soft touch though) and having a go/cheating my way up an over hanging 6C/7A. That’s bloody excellent news .. no real aching going on at all and doing some quite serious climbing. I just have to watch the kinds of moves I’m making and try and look after the right arm and it looks like it’s going to be OK.

WWF - Not multi-threaded out of the box?

Filed under: WFF — Dax++ @ 7:56 am

.. hmm going to have to read up on this one some time.

Basically it sounds like (brief speed reading of a few blogs and this article) that WFF is a bit simplistic when it comes to parallel activities.

Note to self: Must always remember to TDD any new technology to make sure it does what I think it should do and not simply assume that it will work in a particular way.
