June’s Climbing and Training Update

Filed under: Push Bikes, Rock Climbing — Dax++ @ 9:40 am

Well it’s been an eventfull month.

Good Things

- As of last night I’ve recorded my 200th climb - Bookworm - a nice little HS down at Symonds Yat.
- As of today I’ve cycled 1,000 miles since February 2008.
- Took a great swinging fall at Wyndcliff Quarry .. reckon the route was a sand bang .. ended up too far right from the bolt and hand to leap off and fly like tarzan (actually more like George of the Jungle probably .. esp. the landing/hitting the rock bit).
- I’ve started to actually use my moon fingerboard! It’s embarrassing how few pull ups I can do (2!) but they are full pull ups and totally controlled.
- Although very slowly, my weight and body fat percentage is coming down (approx 12st11lbs and 14.9%) and my strength is going up :-)

Not so Good Things

- I’ve decked after two cams ripped on an HVS at Ban-y-gor .. fell about 3m onto my back and slide off down the side of the crag. Fortunately just got a bunch of bruises and a deep seated distrust of cams on Limestone. So lucky.
- Climbed some horrible routes down at Wyndcliff Crag (left side) .. possibly the worst rock I’ve ever been on.
